Our Partners

Establishing strategic partnerships with relevant government ministries and like-minded organizations in Africa, Western Europe, and North America is a key operational strategy for ACDEF. In Central and West Africa in particular, ACDEF works with or through the following organizations and networks:

Wild Earth Allies

Wild Earth Allies (WEA) is a U.S.-based non-profit organization dedicated to protecting vital areas of our natural world for the benefit of wildlife, habitats, and people. Through its generous, sustained, and
continually expanding support and guidance, WEA has played a pivotal role in helping ACDEF Cameroon establish a strong and credible conservation presence in and around the Dja Biosphere Reserve in Cameroon. We are deeply grateful for this partnership, which has enabled the development and implementation of the innovative Community Conservation and Management Areas (CCMAs) approach—an initiative that is strengthening community stewardship while safeguarding the region’s unique biodiversity for future generations.

Global Environment Facility (GEF)

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is an international financial mechanism established in 1991 to support projects addressing global environmental challenges. It provides grants and blended financing for initiatives related to biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, land degradation, international waters, and pollution reduction, primarily in developing countries.

The Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (MINEPDED) is the Government of Cameroon’s authority responsible for environmental policy and sustainable development. It oversees the implementation of national environmental strategies and coordinates international environmental programs and partnerships within the country.

United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority within the United Nations system. Established in 1972, UNEP sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of sustainable development policies, and supports countries in addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and ecosystem management.
